There are a lot of backpacks out there in the market but there are only a handful of them are reliable and can be termed as worth buying. Ghostek NRG is one of them. The first thing to address here with this bad is that it has a built-in battery pack. It has a capacity of 7,000 mAh and it allows you to charge your devices when you are on the go. Inside the bag to charge your devices, there are a couple of cables. There is a lightning cable for iPhones, a micro USB cable for typical android users and they also provide an old school Apple connector. At the outside of the bag there is a button which will allow you to charge your devices. All you have to do is connect the device that you want to charge and press the button. You can have a USB connection here and an Apple connection and both the devices will charge simultaneously.
In terms of recharging, it doesn’t have a fast charging nor it is quick charge enabled. So expect typical charge timings here depending on your battery capacity. And regarding the energy battery itself, there is a supplied wall adapter which can be plugged into a power point and you can charge the entire thing in about 4 hours to fully charge itself from dead condition. Going over the pockets, it comes with a lot of space. There is a small compartment for the battery itself and there along with that you can also put a notepad etc. And coming to the next compartment which is the main one, it doesn’t nicely and you can place most of the stuff comfortably. And going behind that at the back side, there are a couple of different compartments. Inside that you have a small pocket to keep your tablet and at the last pocket you can also use it to hold your laptop. At the lower bottom, there is a small pouch as well that will hold you small items like pens, cables and other miscellaneous items.
Regarding the comfort, Ghostek NRG offers nice padding at the back, however, since you are keeping a laptop, it does takes away from the comfort and kind of makes you back sit straight. But it is indeed quite ergonomical and and not tight which feels like pinching your shoulders. And lastly since it has a battery pack inside, Ghostek is claiming that the bag is water resistant but unfortunately some water will definitely seep in. So not the best one on that department. Overall, it is a plain and simple bag with no bells and whistles and should be perfect of those who travel a lot.
