A graphics processing unit (GPU) which a special circuit which can render graphics more quickly than normal processor acceleration. Its now found in high end personal computers, smart phones and gaming consoles. Famous browsers like Google Chrome, Safari, IE 9 and Mozilla Firefox are basically built for normal PC with not much high-end multi processing but still they have the options of increasing hardware acceleration.
So you can also take advantage of your powerful desktop and make hardware acceleration in Google Chrome that you use. So for those people who have netbooks can skip this as it mayn’t give you a perfect result.
Here is the procedure on how to enable GPU acceleration in your Google Chrome browser –
The first and the foremost thing is that you should be on Google Chrome browser.
- Open a new tab or write it in the same tab, go to address bar and type about:flags and then press Enter.
- Look out for GPU Accelerated Compositing and then click on Enable link which is in the options of that. This will enable 3D CSS and provides higher performance compositing of web pages using GPU hardware.
- Now if you would like to enable GPU Accelerated Canvas 2D then also you can do it. As soon as you hit Enable the option of Disable would be highlighted. This option when enabled will render higher performance of canvas tags with 2D context by GPU hardware.
A Restart of your browser will take the necessary settings into effect and thus you can use hardware acceleration on Chrome. This is not recommended for for netbooks and low configuration personal computers.
