What if someone has disabled the USB storage access on your computer, we will tell you about how to enable and disable it back whenever you want it. All you need to do is to just follow the procedure given below. Many times, be it in an office or even in a college, administrator disables the USB connectivity of the computer due to which we are unable to connect our iPods, Music players or even some times mobile phones. So, many of them might ask now that is there any software with which i can enable and disable it back as per my requirement, the answer is absolutely yes. What’s even more interesting is, you don’t even require any sorts of additional software or any third party client to enable/disable this process. So, without wasting much time, let’s proceed for the procedure. Just some simple registry changes and that’s it you can enable / disable the USB drives.
Procedure to Enable USB Storage Devices:
- We assume that the USB drive is currently disabled, so first you need to click on Start and then select Run or if Run option is not present, you can also type “Win Key + R”, after which Run windows will be shown.
 
- Now, in the Run option, you will have to type regedit, and then click OK.
 
- Now, in the regedit registry locate and then click on,
 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor
- Now, after going to the above mentioned path, you can see that in the right pane, you need to double-click on Start.
 
- As soon as you click on the Start, you can see that in the Value data box, type 3, click Hexadecimal (if it is not already selected), and then simply click on OK as shown in the above screen shot.
 
- After modifying the value, just click on Ok and close the Registry Editor window and there you go you have successfully enabled the USB storage device.
 
Procedure to Disable USB Storage Devices:
- Now, to again disable the USB driver, you first need to open the Run window by clicking on the “Win Key + R” from your keyboard.
 
- Next, you will have to type in regedit, and then click OK. As soon as you click on Ok, you need to go to the path,
 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor
- Now, just click on the Start which is there on the left hand side of the pane, you will find that in the Value data box there will be a value string which is 3, now change this Hexadecimal value to 4 as shown in the below screenshot and then simply click on OK to save the setting and to disable to USB drive.
 
- After modifying the value, just click on Ok and close the Registry Editor window and there you go you have successfully disabled the USB storage device successfully.
