There are many ways to speed up the Internet, but do you know that you can further speed up the loading of the page in your favorite firefox, just a simple procedure and that’s it you can fasten the firefox to a more zippier speed. Basically what happens in this technique which we will be seeing is that the page loads from the memory itself which is a lot faster than loading of images and data from the hard drive itself. So, all in all, you can do this even without using the RAM disk. So, let’s proceed and check out how you can do the same by using simple commands like about:config. The best part of this trick is that if you even messes up the thing then too there is no need to worry, as things will recover automatically.
Procedure to fasten the firefox by moving Cache to the RAM:
- First, you need to type in about:config in the address bar of your Mozilla Firefox.
- Then type in browser.cache into the Filter field and set browser.cache.disk.enable to false which can be changed just by double clicking on it.
- Now, set the browser.cache.memory.enable to true which too can be changed just by double clicking on it and then Right click > New > Integer; type browser.cache.memory.capacity and then click on OK
- Now, type in 100000 (this is equal to the 100 MB) and then click on OK
- Now, after this you need to close all Firefox tabs and windows, and then you have to simply restart the firefox browser.
If you want your cache to be lot more bigger and huge then all you need to do is to just type in the 500000 instead of the 500MB of cache which needs to be fed in the about:cache and you should see some ‘Memory cache device’ information. please note that this doesn’t work in some versions of Firefox 4.
Please note that it’s working for some Firefox versions and it’s been reported that it’s not working in some of the Firefox versions. Since your computer can access data in RAM faster than on a hard drive, moving cached data to RAM can improve your page load times. Do, let us know if you face any problems, so that we can help you regarding the same and also do leave a comment on how it worked, has your firefox turned faster or not? Though this technique is not a new one but its need has become necessary now, just so as to speed up the firefox.
