What is appam?

Appam is a south Indian dish, which resembles pancakes in appearance and consistency. They are traditionally made from rice flour or semolina batter along with coconut milk, sugar, salt, and fermented black gram dal (also known as urad dal). The mixture is left to ferment overnight before being cooked on an app Kallan – a wide frying pan that has ridges for even distribution of the mix.

The end product often has bubbles on top when it emerges from the pan. Appams can be eaten at any time of day – they’re great for breakfast because they’re easy to make and have very few ingredients.

What is an appam maker and how does it work?

An appam maker is a pan, which can be used in place of an app Kallan or to make smaller batches. It has ridges on the inside and usually comes with a lid that helps keep the mixture moist. The batter needs to cook for several minutes before it starts to bubble on top – this ensures you have enough time to pour it evenly into the molds without burning yourself.

The cooking process lasts about 15-20 minutes depending on how thick your mix is and what type of induction stovetop you’re using. Best thing? You don’t need any external heat source. Once they are done, remove them from the pot by inverting them onto a plate so they come out in one piece.

What are the benefits of using an appam maker versus making them by hand?

One of the most important benefits is you have more control over what goes into your battery because it’s time-consuming to measure out ingredients by hand when cooking small quantities (like if you’re making just one serving). Another advantage is that there are no pots and pans required! Plus, as mentioned earlier, you get perfect circular shapes due to those grooves which look professional.
