Twitter

After switching my GMail to secure GMail connection, I would like other sites which I visit to do in the same way. Facebook supports encryption connection through HTTPS but does Twitter has the same options? A month ago my answer would be no, but now its possible to secure your tweets that you make.

With the latest launch of “Always use HTTPS” feature in settings of Twitter you can easily manage the security issues of your Twitter experience. Using HTTPS on the web is quite important if your are using them from unsecured internet connection or public WiFi. By your tweet going through Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection, the information transferred from your browsers to the server at Twitter is encrypted, so even if its hacked, the data wouldn’t be readable.

Twitter users now officially can add the option of always use HTTPS. To turn on HTTPS on your account settings here is the procedure for that –

  • Go to Twitter.com and log in with your login credentials. On the top right you will find your name, drop down and click on Settings.Twitter
  • Once you are into “Settings” scroll down at the bottom and find – Twitter
  • The checkmark “Always use HTTPS” and then click on “Save”.
  • And now you need to enter your password to verify your account.Twitter
  • Now verify the address bar in the web browser by re log in again. Twitter
